Writer's Block: Don't Call It a Comeback

The French term "l'esprit de l'escalier," which translates literally as "the wit of the staircase," refers to those perfect, clever comebacks that you only think of after the fact. What's the best came-too-late comeback you've ever had?
Well it starts with a seriously annoying ex-boyfriend I often run into problems with, and the only way to make him leave me alone is to be exceptionally snarky to him.  One day in class, we were discussing college plans.  Someone asked me where I was going and told them, "Oh, I'm just going down the road to USC-L (community college)."  So stupid ex-boyfriend got all excited because I go out of my way to keep him out of my life and says something like, "You'll probably be seeing me alot then," with this huge grin on my face.

At the time I just said, "No, I promise you will NEVER have a class with me because I will not tolerate it.  I don't care how far out of my way I have to go, you and I are not going to be around each other more than absolutely necessary."

What I should have said was, "You have to graduate first."  He's been on the brink of not graduating and basically failing at life for a few years now, and even a week or two away from graduation it is still unclear if he's going to make it.

I'm not really broken up about this missed opportunity because I've managed to burn him pretty badly so many times, I consider it merciful to let this slide.  Once my autistic sister even called him and his new girlfriend and "bum and a whore" to their faces, there wasn't much left for me to do. :D
